For those who feel a strong calling to pursue extravagant devotion to Jesus and a lifestyle devoted to the things of God, we offer significant equipping and encouragement through
the encounterGOD intern program. Because the guiding principles are similar for each ministry, EGM has partnered with the Lubbock
International House of Prayer (LIHOP) for this program. The program offers two internship tracks, and each track is divided into several phases:
-
Phase I - Introductory Phase
Phase I is required for all interns, regardless of the internship track chosen. In fact, we encourage interns not to make a decision on their preferred track until they
have attended several Phase I training sessions. This phase of the internship serves to introduce participants to the foundational principles that guide the work of
encounterGOD ministries and the LIHOP. Phase I consists of seven weeks of teaching, focusing on the following topics:
- Week 1 - Introduction to the Internship
- Week 2 - IHOP 101 - Introduction to IHOP and the World Wide Prayer Movement
- Week 3 - Introduction to the Prayer Room
- Week 4 - Introduction to the Bridal Paradigm
- Week 5 - The Pursuit of Holiness / Sermon on the Mount Lifestyle
- Week 6 - The Prophetic - Hearing from God
- Week 7 - God's Heart for the Poor
Participants will also be asked to engage in some reading and study outside of the normal meeting times. Books and audio materials will be provided to those who choose to
continue with the program after attending the week 1 introduction.
-
Phase II - Focus Development Phase
Phase II of the internship allows participants to begin to develop their specific callings in a more focused way. There are two primary tracks that participants will be
given the opportunity to pursue:
-
The "Anna" Track - The name for this track is based on the passage of Scripture found in Luke 2:36-37, in which we are introduced to Anna, a prophetess
who "never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying" (Luke 2:37). This track is intended for those who feel a strong calling to become intercessory
missionaries, dedicating their lives to seeking God through prayer, fasting, and worship in the context of the Prayer Room. Don't worry, we don't expect you to "never
leave the temple"... however, it is expected that interns who choose this track will dedicate a significant portion of their time to developing the House of Prayer, which
is the foundation for all other ministry efforts.
-
The "Missionary" Track - Although we consider those who choose the "Anna" track to be intercessory missionaries, in this case we mean "missionary"
in the more traditional sense of the word. This track is intended for those who have a strong desire to minister directly to the needs of the community, embracing
Jesus' commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:39). However, the foundation for all of life and ministry is found in verse 37 - "Love the Lord
your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." Therefore, interns will not only be trained and equipped in the area of ministry to the
community, but will also engage in a lifestyle of extravagant devotion to Jesus and the pursuit of the knowledge of God's heart.
-
Phase III - Leadership Phase
Once an intern has developed a strong grounding in the foundational values of EGM/LIHOP and has gained experience in incorporating these values into his or her life and ministry,
they will be invited to advance to Phase III of the internship program. This phase will look different based on the track chosen by the participant, but the common factor
is that the intern will be placed in a position of leadership in some area. For example, those who choose the "Anna" track might be asked to develop and oversee a prayer/worship
team. A participant in the "Missionary" track might be given the responsibility of overseeing an individual community mission / church plant. An EGM/LIHOP staff member will help
the intern choose a leadership position based on their specific desires and calling.
-
Phase IV - Mentoring Phase
After serving faithfully and with great integrity in a leadership position for the specified time period, most interns will be invited to join the staff of EGM/LIHOP. This could include
raising financial support to serve in a "full-time" capacity, or simply serving on a "part-time" basis. In either case, those who have reached Phase IV will be asked to serve as mentors
for new interns, helping them to develop lives marked by intimacy with Jesus and extravagant devotion to the things of God.
If you would like to receive additional information concerning the intern program, or if you are ready to "jump in" as soon as possible, please contact us using our online
contact form. A representative of EGM or LIHOP will get back in touch with you as soon as possible to discuss the program in more detail.
